• Savannah Joi's Sweet Carousel Themed Birthday Party
    BABY JOI / December 2nd, 2016 5:41 pm     A+ | a-

Planning Savannah Joi’s first birthday party was a huge deal for me. I pulled out all the stops for SJ's carousel themed birthday party. It was nothing short of big and exactly how I envisioned it. With that being said when I began my planning I would have bouts of overwhelming anxiety. I mean, is it that serious y’all? I felt like I was planning my wedding all over again.

I decided to do a carousel themed birthday party because I wanted to be able to incorporate carnival rides and and as many activities for the kids to do as possible. SJ had a train, carousel, bouncing house, petting zoo, popcorn and cotton candy stand, clown and a face painter. I wanted to make sure that SJ's birthday party was super fun for the kids, and an event they would never forget.

During the course of my planning, many people would ask, why are you going all out for her first birthday, she's not going to remember it? I quickly realized that many people don't celebrate their child’s first birthday or they just do something small at the house. I mean, to each its own, but for me SJ's turning one is a big deal!  It's not only a celebration of SJ but also for me too. Making it a whole year on this earth as a new mother with a new baby is life changing. I mean sure I get it she is definitely not going to remember her first, second, third, maybe even her fourth birthday party but at least she will have pictures. I enjoy looking at pictures of my first birthday so it’s important for me to capture special moments for her to look back on when she gets older!

With that being, I would love to hear from you guys, what are your thoughts? Do u do it big or keep it cool? Why and why not? Comment below!

I think it's a good idea to go all out, it really depends on budget and the desire of the parents. Great bday pictures!

A first baby first party is a deal being that a lot of babies die from SIDS. I appreciate you sharing the anxiety aspect of it. As a mother we all want that day to go perfect for our kid. I loved all the details you incorporated. Beautiful party, beautiful family, beautiful SJ!
